The Challenge: So Much Has Changed! And It Keeps Changing!
They used to say the only constant is change. But the rate of change is actually changing–it’s getting faster! Things are changing all the time: technology, staffing, organizational structures, rules and laws, and of course we are all changing too. And for many people that makes us uncomfortable and clinging to old, outdated ways much of the time. Our personal response to change can affect our professional performance around change. And when we know we have new changes coming for our staff–a merger, new software, a new manager–even though we know it’s an improvement, it damage morale. So how can you get used to constant change? How can you get more confident moving in to the unknown? How can you respond with curiosity instead of fear? How can you more quickly let go of what’s not working so you can embrace what is?
The Solution: A Thriving Through Change Session
In this session we will be pulling tools from the world of improvisational theater, where change is happening constantly in front of a live audience. We will take a look at what our internal response is to change and see if we can shift it into something more productive. Like a good improviser, participants will learn how to recover quickly from unexpected events, be curious about the unfamiliar, be flexible in response to new information and start things without knowing exactly how they will end.
